MONSTER BAG IN ACTION

Good morning again. Ramona, a friend of the Monsters from San Diego, sent me this picture of herself modeling the Daily Monster Messenger Bag at Comic-Con. The bag pales a bit when placed next to a bronze one-piece and matching horned headset, but still... lookin' good! Thank you for sending in the photo, Ramona! 344 LOVES YOU

CONTROL FREAKS, EGOMANIACS & MONSTERS, OH MY! (THREE NEW 344 BUTTONS)

Good morning. How are you? I hope you had a good weekend and that your Monday wasn't too jarring. I just filmed a new Weekly Monster and posted it to the Revver server. Once they give it their green light, I'll post it here.
It's a strange one. I think you'll like it.

In the meantime, I've got three brand new store344 products for you. Please take a look at these buttons. This first one came out of a conversation I had with Ze Frank at the AIGA Fresh Dialogue event in New York.
He called me a control freak and I replied.

Button01

A few weeks ago I attended an AIGA event here in Los Angeles. During a panel discussion somebody asked a question of a prominent local designer. She said "Well, I think I speak for everyone here... " then drifted into a long Shatneresque pause that must've lasted 15 seconds. I thought. "No! Surely that's not her actual answer!" Eventually she did snap out of it and went ahead with an answer, but the line stuck.
I felt compelled to make it into a button.

Button02

Lastly, there had to be a monster button, and here it is. I hope you like it.

Button03

You can buy all three buttons together as a set for $6 (including tax and shipping),
or you can get 10-packs of each motif for $15 if you want to spread the love.
Either way, you'll find the buttons at this link.

THE FIRST 10 MONSTER BAGS ARE ON THEIR WAY

Good evening. I just wanted to let you know that the first 10 Daily Monster Messenger Bags are on their way to Arizona, New York, Massachusetts, Virginia, Idaho, and across town here in California. Thanks to all of you early adopters for diving right into the Daily Monster Heavy Manufacturing Adventure (or DaMoHeMa for short.) If you're in the business of carrying things around with you and want to stop unsightly pocket lumps and bulges from destroying the crisp lines of your stylish garment, now is the time to strike. (I'm just saying... )

OK. Enough hype for one post... :^)

In other news, here's a little teaser from my final Ink & Circumstance column. You can see the complete piece in the next issue of STEP inside design. Of course, there will be many more monsters between now and then. Why? Because 344 LOVES YOU

DAILY MONSTER MESSENGER BAG

Good evening. The Daily Monster Messenger Bag is finally on sale! I got it printed a few weeks ago, but the way the flap draped when the bag was empty just didn't look good when I tested the bag on my recent trip to New York. It looked floppy and limp. Which is never good! So I had the bags altered by my trusty tailor here in L.A. He hemmed each flap with a sturdy thread. Now the bags look good and work great and they're ready for you at store344. Please take a look:

HI! HOW ARE YOU?
MOVE YOUR MOUSE
344 LOVES YOU

The bag is made from 12oz natural cotton canvas. It's got a cell phone pouch, which---along with the mesh pouch for a bottle of water---is the kind of feature I used to scoff at until I road-tested the bag, walking through sweltering downtown Manhattan for hours on end. These things do come in handy.

The bag measures 12.5 x 15.5 x 3.5 in. and comes in taupe. It's got a Velcro closure--two big patches on the inside of the flap. It's a bit noisy, but quick and effective. The material is soft, but sturdy. If you're carrying heavy hardcover books with sharp corners for a week straight (as I did) the bag will fray a bit, but if you need a nifty everyday bag for the office or school, this one will not let you down.

Hey, did I mention that this thing features a brand new monster? I made it exclusively for this one-time edition of 25 bags, silk-screened in black and white. (If I make a second edition of the bag, it'll have a different monster.) Finally, I will sign and number each bag on the inside back panel. The price is $34.44 including shipping (if you're in the U.S.) and, as always, 5% of all store344 sales benefit 826LA.

So there you have it! A brand new item that lets you
make a monstrous fashion statement! Get'em while they're hot!
In the meantime, please remember that 344 LOVES YOU

STORE 344

344storehomepage

Good morning! So... guess what... the 344 Online Shopping Experience is now live! (All Praise and Glory be to the brilliant Eric Jacobsen at FWIS, who's been working overtime to make this happen!) If you've always wanted to get a 344 poster, a print of one of the monsters, or even a custom monster of your own, it's all waiting for you at STORE344.COM

I hope you like the goods. The plan is that I'll add small runs of new monster products every month. The first item is already at the printers. I don't want to give it away, but if you're in the market for a messenger bag, I'd hold off for a few days.

5% of every sale on the new site will go to the great people at 826LA. About 40% will go to the IRS, another 50% to vendors and to the United States Postal Service (domestic shipping is included!), and we'll see if I can actually make a living from the rest.

I hope you'll like the goods. And if there's something I missed that you'd like to buy, please let me know, and I'll see if I can make it happen.
