Good morning! I hope you're having a good October so far. I just got back from the excellent 5D Conference in Long Beach, and I have some totally unrelated good news for you: The Daily Monster Facebook app is ready! It's called SEND A MONSTER and lets you scare all your Facebook friends with Daily Monsters. And these are all new Monsters, I'll have you know. Twenty of them, with more to come as we get closer to Halloween. Exclusively available on Facebook.

I hope you'll go check it out. Send a few Monsters to your unsuspecting victims. What better time than the days leading up to the great autumnal Spookinox! More seasonal Monster Goodness is coming your way very, very shortly.* For now, I hope you're having a good Monday! And please, face facts: 344 LOVES YOU

-----

Technical note: If the Facebook link comes up as "The page you requested was not found." it's an issue with too much traffic. Usually a refresh or two will do the trick.

-----

Technical note postscript: I changed the links in the above post to something more reliable. The app itself works fine, but I initially picked the wrong URL to get to it. My apologies.

Good morning. Remember how you used to have to send me your Open Source Monsters and then wait for me to get off my duff to post them to the blog? And remember how that sometimes took forever? Well, that's all in the past now. No more of that! Friend of the Monsters Tim Moraitis has been working overtime to cook up a whole new upload interface for you. Now you can post your Monsters without having to wait for anybody! It's a new feature!

It's a beta right now, so please let me know your thoughts. Tim has posted some of the existing Open Source Monsters already, and we'll add most all of them in the coming weeks. But that's the archival stuff. I'm excited to see what new Monsters you'll cook up. To that end, there is a new Open Source Inkblot waiting for you in Album 24.

Why? Because 344 LOVES YOU

The new e-ink cover of Esquire. I'm so jealous! It's so mini-Bladerunner! I want to make a cover with e-ink. Better yet, a poster! Once you look closely you can see that the flashing bits are all black and white. The color is printed on a clear overlay. Inside the magazine is a small piece on the technology involved, and how tricky it was to get the cover produced. But imagine in 10 or 15 years... My copy is lying next to me on the desk and it's pretty surreal to have a flashing magazine cover in the corner of my eye. Viva e-ink!

I'm working hard on new Monsters --- 20 new ones this week alone --- but I can't quite show them to you yet. Lots of fun Monster action will happen in October, and especially as we get closer to Halloween.

For now, I thought I'd at least show you this page from my sketchbook, just because I think it's fun.

As of tomorrow, I'm actually doing the unthinkable: I'm hopping on a plane to New York and taking six days off. (Halal and Nuts 4 Nuts vendors be warned! I'm a-comin' and I'm a-hungry!) Mind you, I'm taking my pens with me, and some ink blots, too. So... please stay tuned.
